Seeking:A YEAR IN THE TRENCHES The season opener, "A Year in the Trenches," returns from last year with the previous cast, so only seeking possible replacements for all roles: CHARLES EDWARD DILKES – ROLE CAST. the narrator, who enlists in the army when the United States declared war in 1917, and was one of the last soldiers to leave Germany, age range 30-40; ACTOR 1 - ROLE CAST. portrays pilot Kenneth Russell Unger, poet Joyce Kilmer, French and German soldiers, and playing guitar a plus, age range 25-35; ACTOR 2 - ROLE CAST. Arthur Buzzoni (friend of Dilkes), newsboy, German, and various soldiers, age range 20-35; ACTOR 3 – ROLE CAST. Father Duffy, several American officers, French innkeeper, age range 35- 50; ACTOR 4 - ROLE CAST. nurse Amabel Scharff Roberts, various French women, and Dilkes' sister, also a singer to sing World War I songs, who can play an instrument such as an accordion, guitar, and/or ukulele, age range 20-35; ACTOR 5 - ROLE CAST. Grace Banker (headed up the "Hello Girls" - part of the Signal Corps), and various French and German characters, also a singer to sing World War I songs, who can play an instrument such as an accordion, guitar, and/or ukulele, age range 20-35. ---------------- ON THE SUNNY SIDE OF THE STREET Dir: Gayle Stahlhuth Mus Dir: Charles Gilbert a world premiere musical revue with lyrics by Dorothy Fields, and the music, primarily, by McHugh, Kern, Schwartz, Hague, and Coleman. Rehearsals begin on Monday two weeks before the opening-performance week. Performance weeks are Wednesday through Saturday nights, with exceptions, which are noted below. All of the rehearsals will be in Cape May. All four performers must be strong singing-actors who move well and have a love for and understanding of The American Songbook. Seeking MAN 1 and WOMAN 1: 20-35 MAN 2 and WOMAN 2: 36-45.  -------------------- ARSENIC AND OLD LACE Rehearsals begin on Monday two weeks before the opening-performance week. Performance weeks are Wednesday through Saturday nights, with exceptions, which are noted below. All of the rehearsals will be in Cape May. (NOTE: according to licensing agreement, all roles must be cast according to the sex designated by the playwright): ABBY BREWSTER – Female, a darling spinster who mixes arsenic with wine, age range 65-70 MARTHA BREWSTER – Female, Abby’s kindly sister, also a spinster, who shares her sister's love of arsenic and wine, age range 65-70 TEDDY BREWSTER - Male, their nephew who thinks he’s Teddy Roosevelt, age range 35-45 MORTIMER BREWSTER – Male, another nephew who is a theater critic and recently engaged, age range 30-40 JONATHAN BREWSTER – Male, a third nephew who is running away from the law, and looks a bit like Boris Karloff, age range 35-50 DR. EINSTEIN – Male, Jonathan’s sidekick, who enjoys alcoholic beverages; ELAINE HARPER – Female, Mortimer’s fiance? and a minister’s daughter, age range 25-35 REV. DR. HARPER – Male, Elaine’s no-nonsense father (this actor also plays MR. GIBBS, a would-be tenant in the Brewster Sisters’ boarding house, and MR. WITHERSPOON, the superintendent of Happy Dale Sanitorium), age range 50-65 OFFICER BROPHY – Male, a veteran policeman, age range 30-45; OFFICER KLEIN – Male, understanding, kind policeman, age range 30-40; OFFICER O’HARA – Male, another policeman and a would-be playwright, age range 25-35. Due to the size of the cast, an ASSISTANT STAGE MANAGER will be hired, who will be playing one of the smaller roles. _____________________ SILENT SKY rehearsals begin on Monday two weeks before the opening-performance week. Performance weeks are Wednesday through Saturday nights, with exceptions, which are noted below. All of the rehearsals will be in Cape May. HENRIETTA LEAVITT (1868-1921) – committed scientist who cares about her family, and willing to commit to marriage, but always dedicated to her work, she almost always wears a period hearing-aid since a childhood disease caused a hearing loss, and must show a gradual aging from age 30 to 50 MARGARET LEAVITT – Henrietta’s caring younger sister, a homebody, age range 30-40; PETER SHAW – the head astronomer’s apprentice who is attracted to Henrietta, age range 30-40; ANNIE CANNON – another pioneer in astronomy who works with Henrietta, she is no-nonsense and laser-sharp, age range 40-50; WILLIAMINA FLEMING – another astrologer working with Henrietta and Annie, very smart, witty, and Scottish who should speak with a Scottish accent, age range 50-60.

Seeking:Anya: Female, mid 20s; when we first meet Anya, she is a lost soul but with great strength, pride, determination, and dignity; as the story progresses, she begins to discover her sense of self and the possibility that she may be the missing daughter of Tsar Nicholas; we’re not looking for a fairy-tale princess; she’s a tough survivor; when Anya is transformed into the beautiful Anastasia, it should have the same effect and surprise as Eliza Doolittle entering the ball; must possess wit, sense of humor, and spirit; exciting mix/belt; principal. Dmitry: Male, mid-20s, an opportunist trying to make it on the streets of Russia by selling stolen objects from the Tsarist past; he’s the prince of St. Petersburg’s black market; he creates the scheme to find an Anastasia impersonator in order to gain the reward for her safe return; he’s smooth, persuasive, daring, and a real operator; must have a sense of danger, edginess, and sex appeal; must possess wit, charm, sense of humor, grit, and spirit; not a typical romantic leading man, although he and Anya eventually fall in love; thrilling, clear tenor with a flexible top of range; principal. Dowager Empress Maria Feodorovna: Female, 60-75, the formidable and imperious grandmother of Anastasia; Anastasia is her favorite grandchild, and she loves her with all her heart; she never truly gives up the belief that her granddaughter might be alive, but finally after years of enduring Anastasia pretenders, she becomes hardened and bitter; it’s only when she meets Anya that her old spirit begins the return; even when she knows that Anya may not be Anastasia, she realizes that we all “need our dreams and we need the truth"; must have elegance, beauty, and a regal bearing; alto or actor who’s very comfortable with singing; principal. Vlad: Male, 45-59, before the revolution, Vlad was a minor functionary at the empirical court; he’s Dmitry’s right hand man, and because of his romantic relationship with Lily, he arranges a meeting between Anya and the Dowager Empress; must have wit, style, be a character comedian with panache, and have generosity of spirit; character baritone, with strong singing voice, color, finesse, and musical theatre musicianship in general; principal. Gleb: Male, 35-39, a member of the Chekist secret police; a zealot with tremendous intensity and a dangerous sexuality; as the play progresses, we see him rise in power and position within the political party; he’s in love with Anya but would not be above killing her if necessary; we’re not looking for a typical villain; he must be likable; strong, dramatic baritenor with thrilling middle and top of range; principal. Countess Lily: Female, 50-55, the voluptuous confidante/lady-in-waiting to the Dowager Empress; she’s delightful when she’s not with the Dowager but also compassionate, respectful, and good at her job; she doesn’t take her romantic relationship with Vlad too seriously; must be a juicy character comedienne with strong dancing ability; comic belt; principal. Young Anya: Female, 8-11, the daughter of the Tsar of Russia; a sweet and impressionable young princess; beautiful soprano voice; principal - juvenile performer.
