Seeking:Tevye (Lead): Male, 35-59, hardworking and pious Jewish dairyman struggling with the shifting attitudes in 1900s Russia; husband to Golde, father to five daughters; robust, humorous, and charismatic performer needed, likable from the moment we meet him, even through his moments of struggle, stubbornness, and sometimes rage. Golde (Lead): Female, 30-59, Tevye's strong-willed wife who wishes for her daughters to have good husbands and live more easily than she and Tevye; she is the real strength of the household, the practical, no-nonsense partner of her dreamer husband. Tzeitel (Lead): Female, 18-25, the eldest daughter; she is devoted and dutiful, but wary of having the choice of husband taken from her hands; she is in love with motel the tailor, a gentle and sweet man with no money; she is a good and helpful daughter who is devoted to her family and generally listens to her parents, but when it comes to matters of the heart, she can be incredibly stubborn, and incredibly convincing. Hodel (Lead): Female, 18-23, the second eldest daughter; she is intelligent and opinionated, coming to head with a young student, Perchik; almost in spite of herself, she falls in love with him and eventually leaves Anatevka to join him in Siberia. Chava (Lead): Female, 18-20, the middle daughter who loves to read; she is sweet and shy and is the "favorite child" of her father Tevye; she falls in love and runs off with Fyedka, a Russian soldier, even though she knows that her family will disown her for marrying a non-Jew Shprintze (Supporting): Female, 18+ to play younger; the fourth eldest daughter who takes lessons at home from Perchik. Motel (Supporting): Male, 18-30, the poor and meek tailor who shares a deep love with Tzeitel; sensitive and nervous, but sincere and friendly. Perchik (Supporting): Male, 20-35, the outspoken student and visitor to Anatevka, who constantly challenges the traditions of the town; he eventually falls in love with Hodel. Fyedka (Supporting) : Male, 18-25, a handsome, strong, young Russian soldier who sees past his military obligations and falls in love with Chava; he challenges Tevye's imposed silence.   Lazar Wolf (Supporting): Male, 30-49, the feisty, brawny butcher and the town's wealthiest citizen who wishes to marry Tzeitel. Yente (Supporting): Female, 30-59, the meddling matchmaker; she is a widow and village busybody who knows all of the town gossip. Constable (Supporting): Male, 35-59, Russian military official stationed near Anatevka who knows the villagers well, however he has superficial relationships with the villagers. Ethnicity: {C}All Ethnicities{C} Rabbi (Supporting): Male, 35-59, a source of wisdom and guidance for the people of Anatevka; spiritually, religiously, and also with advice on their day-to-day lives. Mendel  (Supporting): Male, 20-29, the Rabbi's son who is being groomed to one day, hopefully, assume his father's position; he is one for rules and specifics and is a strong adherent of tradition. Mordcha (Supporting): Male, 30-59, runs the local bar in town and is a friend to Tevye.   Avram (Supporting): Male, 30-59, runs the local bookshop in town and keeps the town informed of all the news in the area, news which is mostly bad.
