Seeking:SYNOPSIS Anything Goes is set aboard the ocean liner S. S. American, where nightclub singer/evangelist Reno Sweeney is en route from New York to England. Her pal Billy Crocker has stowed away to be near his love, Hope Harcourt, but the problem is Hope is engaged to the wealthy Lord Evelyn Oakleigh. Joining this love triangle on board the luxury liner are Public Enemy #13, Moonface Martin and his sidekick-in-crime Bonnie. With the help of some elaborate disguises, tap-dancing sailors and good old-fashioned blackmail, Reno and Martin join forces to help Billy in his quest to win Hope’s heart. NOTE REGARDING THE ROLES OF THE CHINESE CONVERTS: The theatre looks to engage the company and our community on a portrayal of these characters, that does not exploit offensive tropes or stereotypes. A constant dialogue, before and during rehearsals, and also throughout the run will be encouraged to create a safe environment for all involved in the company and in the audience. We are seeing both Union and Non-Union for ALL ROLES. Please make sure union affiliation is clearly marked in your submission. We are seeking a diverse cast for this production and encourage all actors of all ethnicities to submit/audition. SEEKING A DIVERSE CAST FOR ALL ROLES: BONNIE: (Female – 20s) A 1930's type gangster’s moll in cahoots with MOON and SNAKE EYE’S. Small and mighty, this young woman is full of energy, flirtatious and always on the lookout for a good time. Brassy, and independent. Strong comedy and dance a must. BELT TO C# (MEZZO/BELT) ALL ETHNICITIES ENCOURAGED. LUKE: (Male - 20s/30s) A Christian Convert from China, “reformed” gambler, smart and cunning, he outwits the entire ship including the clever MOONFACE MARTIN. The development of this character, journey and backstory, will be a mutual discovery with the actor hired. LUKE will be a designated role that won't be doubling up as other characters in the show. Strong Mover, Tap a plus, Creativity a must. JOHN: (Male - 20s/30s) A Christian Convert from China, “reformed” alcoholic, along with Luke, he too, outsmarts the entire ship using his superb wits and cunning. The development of this character, journey and backstory, will be a mutual discovery with the actor hired. LUKE will be a designated role that won't be doubling up as other characters in the show. Strong Mover, Tap a plus. CAPTAIN: (Male – 30s-50s) – Captain of the S. S. American. Strong presence and strict, yet overly concerned with the popularity of his ship’s crossing. A good mover-singer. Must have a keen sense of comedic timing. (BARITONE) ALL ETHNICITIES ENCOURAGED. REVEREND HENRY T. DOBSON/ ENSEMBLE: (Male – 30s-50s) A guest aboard the ship. Established missionary. Highly devout and proud Character Singing. Especially seeking a dancer with character man skills OR a character man with strong dance. Must tap.ALL ETHNICITIES ENCOURAGED. ANGELS: (Female – 20s) A diverse group of strong, confident, sexy dancers to play RENO’s showgirls. A Rockette look/type a plus with strong tap dance a must. All vocal types. Seeking:Seeking: Dancers Dancers will be required to audition live or by video submission. Our choreographer will teach three challenging combinations at the live auditions. Proper dance attire will be required. Video submission applicants must submit video footage displaying a brief across the floor combination (2 to 4 counts of 8) to include: pirouettes (Jazz or Classical), jumps, extensions, battements, etc. You will also need to include two contrasting Jazz combinations, 1 to 2 minutes minimum, in Contemporary, Lyrical or Funk Jazz styles. Video footage of previous performance experience showing various dance styles as well as any specialty skills such as aerial or tumbling is a plus. Live auditions are preferred. Singers Mature, versatile vocalists who are able to harmonize and perform a wide variety of music genres, including Pop/Rock, R&B/Soul, Gospel, Contemporary Musical Theatre/Broadway, and Jazz. Must move extremely well. Strong acting ability and experience singing in other languages a plus. FEMALES: (Any ethnicity) Must read 20s to early 40s. 5’4 or taller. Attractive, captivating, leading lady types with a strong, controlled belt/mix to F5 and legit to C6. MALES: (Any ethnicity) Must read 20s to early 40s. 5’8 or taller. Attractive, strong, masculine, leading man types. Tenors and Bari-tenors with strong falsetto extension. Must be able to comfortably sing and sustain up to A4. Falsetto to F5.
