All roles sing and require musical theatre dance or movement skills. While the Marx Brothers are at the heart of the production, we are not in search of “imitators” but impressions and suggestions of the original brothers/film stars. Actor Track 1: Male 40s. Hives/Roscoe W. Chandler/Ensemble. Hives: Snobbish, formal quite witty. Roscoe: quintessential millionaire tycoon. Wants to marry Mrs. Rittenhouse. Lyric Baritone. Actor Track 2: Female 50s. Mrs. Rittenhouse/Queen of France/Ensemble. Mrs. Rittenhouse: Gracious, wealthy host of the party. Her status is paramount to her as a society matron. Mezzo- soprano. Actor Track 3: Female 20s – 30s. Arabella Rittenhouse/Mrs. Whitehead. Arabella: Mrs. Rittenhouses daughter; well educated debutante, quick and sharp. Mrs. Whitehead: Mrs. Rittenhouses rival – also a socialite trying to undermine Mrs. Rittenhouses success. Sarcastic and clever. Soprano. Actor Track 4: Male 30s – 40s. M. Doucet/Wally Winston/Sgt. Hennessey. Doucet: Frenchman who is an art connoisseur. Arrogant, dramatic. Wally Winston: Newspaper columnist. A charming intellectual with a side of sarcasm. Embraces life fully. Tenor. Actor Track 5: Female 20s – 30s. Grace Carpenter/Mary Stewart/Girl A. Grace: Mrs. Whiteheads sister and partner in crime. World wise, appealing. Mary: Ingenue. Lovely, heartfelt personality. Soprano. Actor Track 6: Male 20s – 30s. John Parker/Zeppo/Horatius Jamison. Parker: Earnest young lover. Interested in Mary Stewart. Horatio: Straight man to Groucho. Tenor. Actor Track 7: Male 30s – 50s. Captain Jeffrey T. Spaulding/Groucho/Butler. Very funny, verbal dexterity (as in wise guy) unrelenting in his humor and charm. Tenor. Actor Track 8: Male 30s – 40s. Unemployed bartender living in a trailer park. Has purchased a painting at a thrift store that she believes to be an unknown painting by Jackson Pollock worth millions. Lional Percy: Male 50s – 60s. A well-established New York art authenticator and a self-described cultural connoisseur. Plays the Chorus, personable, funny, heart of gold. Celeste Fielding: Female, 40s. Diva. Dramatic, over-the-top style, articulate but underneath her diva like personality, she’s got some heart after all. Plays Henry IV and Henry V. Ellsworth Snow: Male, 60s. Board President of the Oberon Play House. A bit pompous, stuffy, resistant to change but truly adores his wife. Winifred Snow: Female, 50s - 60s. Very enthusiastic and energetic socialite but on the surface perhaps not very talented? Sweet woman who plays Falstaff. Stuart Lasker: Male, 30s. Very buttoned up Stage Manager. Funny, endearing and loyal. Goes above and beyond the call of duty. Plays Mistress Quickly. Grace Richards: Female, 30s. New to town. Confident and passionate. Plays Henry IV and Henry V. Ida Green: Female, 20s - 30s. African American, the imaginative Costume Designer; outspoken, loves the theatre, does not suffer fools. Plays Hotspur. June Bennet: Female, 20s. The quintessential ingénue. Plays the Kates. In this season resident company members will perform in either ANIMAL CRACKERS and DESPERATE MEASURES, or BAKERSFIELD MIST and INTO THE BREECHES!.
