Seeking:Seanache, The Storyteller (Supporting): Males & Females, 40-60, animated and engaging storyteller; is the glue that holds the show together; the role may be played by either male or female actors and requires a good singing voice with strong high (top note is F3) and low range (C2); is the lead singer in “Participate Joyfully,” (finale of Act I) and has a duet with Humanity’s Child in “Look at the World” (a pivotal piece in Act II). Humanity’s Child, A Dreamsinger (Lead): Female, 14-18, young looking; this is the title role and the central character, for it is in her dreams that the story unfolds; the role requires a excellent singing voice (vocal range F2-C4). Humanity’s Child is the lead singer in “Who,” (opens the show), “Gonna Make Room in My Life for Love” (a pop ballad with teen appeal), and “Free Flight” (Finale); she also sings in a three part counterpoint with Afrah and Akanni, “The Spirit Within,” a duet with Seanache “Look at the World” (a pivotal piece in Act II), and another trio with Afrah and Akanni, “Only One Child.” Afrah, The Child’s Mother (Lead): Female, 30-45, this is the “singing-star” role in the show and requires exceptional vocal skill and performance technique (vocal range F2-D 4) and some dance abilities; is soloist in “Love Song” (a pop ballad with young adult appeal), sings five duets with Akanni, “Peace to You,” “Out of Love,” “Celebrate,” “Now is the Time,” and “Radiant Light,” as well as three trios with Akanni and Humanity’s Child, “The Spirit within,” “Only One Child,” and “Free Flight.” Akanni, The Child’s Father (Lead): Male, 30-45, this is the “dancing-star” role (tap or other) in the show and requires exceptional dance skill and strong vocals as well (vocal range A1- E3); sings five duets with Afrah, “Peace to You,” “Out of Love,” “Celebrate (incl. dance solo),” “Now is the Time,” and “Radiant Light,” as well as three trios with Afrah and Humanity’s Child, “The Spirit within,” “Only One Child,” and “Free Flight.” The Singing Cousins (Chorus / Ensemble): Males & Females, 18-25, these four cousins are skilled vocalists, the “chorus” or “back-up” singers in the show and must be able to sing independently in four part harmony; it also requires strong acting/reacting skills and he ability to move fluidly on stage and to project a “character.” Dancing and guitar or percussion skills a plus; Ananda, a cousin, f, 18-25, soprano, C3-G5 (opt.C5); Duscha, a cousin, f, 18-25, alto, G2-C4; Asher, a cousin, m, 18-25, tenor, C2-G3; Jazlann, a cousin, m, 18-25, baritone/bass, A2-F3. The Dancing Cousins (Chorus / Ensemble): Males & Females, 18-25, these four cousins are skilled dancers as well a competent vocalists; they are an equally important part of the “chorus” and must be able, at minimum, to sing with a partner in four part harmony; it also requires strong acting/reacting skills and he ability to move fluidly on stage and to project a “character": guitar or percussion skills a plus; Lowenna, a cousin, f, 18-25, soprano, C3-G5; Radinka, a cousin, f, 18-25, alto, G2-C4; Macario, a cousin, m, 18-25, tenor, C2-G3; Vidor, a cousin, m, 18-25, baritone/bass, A2-F3.
