Seeking:Equity actors for roles in Theatre SilCo's 2023 Season AN ILIAD The Poet [CAST] - (male, any age) the play's narrator and sole character, an intimate, incisive, and urgent storyteller. HEAD OVER HEELS GYNECIA - (40s-50s, female) Queen of Arcadia. Sexy, wise, beautiful. Like any long standing spouse, knows how to get her way with her husband when push comes to shove. Alto, Pop PAMELA - (20s-30s, female) Basilius and Gynecia's older daughter. Confident and obsessed with her appearance. Known to be the most beautiful bachelorette throughout Arcadia. Mezzo-Soprano Legit, Pop MOPSA - (20s-30s, female) Handmaiden to Pamela. Warm, skeptical. Growing up without a mother has made her wise beyond her years about everyone and everything, which is why she is the (sometime) narrator to the show. Mezzo-Soprano, Pop PHILOCLEA - (20s, female) Basilius and Gynecia's younger daughter. Shy and a "good girl", she yearns to follow her heart rather than obey her father's orders. Soprano Legit, Pop BASILIUS - (40s-50s, male) - King of Arcadia. A sexy, good ol' boy. A hothead, but not a despot. Blindly thinks Arcadia is doing great under his masculine rule, which will be sorely tested during the course of the show. Tenor, Pop MUSIDORUS - ( 20’s, male) - A poor shepherd living in the 16th century kingdom of Arcadia. Neurotic, nervous, and pathetic, Musidorus longs to marry Philoclea, one of the Arcadian princesses, who desires to marry him as well. However, Philoclea’s father, King Basilius, will not allow the two to wed. Tenor Legit, Pop DAMETAS - (40s-50s, male) - The King’s viceroy; father to Mopsa. Dametas is loyal to the king through and through. Tenor, Baritone, Bass, Pop PYTHIO - (40’s-50’s, non-binary) - The Oracle; powerful, mysterious. Demanding. Great sense of humor, can see through everyone. In their past life, was the royal Arcadian viceroy Dametas’s wife and Mopsa’s mother, but because she came out as genderfluid, Dametas forced them to abandon Arcadia. Alto, Bass, Pop 6 ENSEMBLE MEMBERS - (20s-40s, any gender) THE HALF LIFE OF MARIE CURIE MARIE CURIE (44, female) – Polish-born, French national, Brilliant, shrewd, private, and patient scientist. At this point she has already won her first Nobel Prize in Physics with her husband, Pierre, in 1903. She is the mother of two daughters. She was widowed in 1906 when her husband died tragically. HERTHA AYRTON (57, female) – British. A brazen, ambitious, fiercely intelligent engineer, inventor, and suffragist. Widowed in 1908, she continued her work in electrical experimentation while secretly housing suffragettes running from police. Of Jewish origin, she became an agnostic pragmatist who changed her name from Sarah to Hertha after a Swinburne poem about a goddess of the earth. BASKERVILLE: A SHERLOCK HOLMES MYSTERY SHERLOCK HOLMES (30s-40s male) – Highly intelligent, confident, quick-witted, and obsessive. Lives to solve mysteries and discover the truth. Thinks very highly of his close friend Watson. DOCTOR WATSON (40-49, male) – Smart, grounded, and full of heart. Doctor Watson is full of wonder. He lives to have adventures and assist his close friend Holmes. TRACK ONE (30s-40s, any gender) - Shows great versatility both physically and vocally. Multiple roles, including Stapleton (seemingly geeky butterfly lover persona conceals the psychopath within), Barrymore (mournful caretaker of Baskerville Hall), Milker (scrappy Dickensian urchin boy) and Dr. Mortimer (elegant, friendly, passionate). TRACK TWO (20s-30s, any gender) - Shows great versatility both physically and vocally. Multiple roles, including Sir Hugbaskerville (brutal, cruel Cavalier), Wilson (exuberant, hearty head of messenger office), Sir Henry Baskerville (Texan relation to Baskervilles. Open-hearted, earnest, ready for adventure and to fall in love), and Inspector Lestrade (cocky police inspector). TRACK THREE (20s-30s, female) - Shows great versatility both physically and vocally. Multiple roles, including Miss Stapleton (Stapleton’s initially secretive, scared “sister” who falls passionately in love with Sir Henry), Mrs. Barrymore (severe, humorless Swedish caretaker of Baskerville Hall), Mrs. Hudson (older, maternal housekeeper for Holmes).
